We were adopted by a cat who I suspect was thrown out of a car window and ended up in our yard out in the boonies. My husband was NOT a cat person, but this feline knew who to suck up to - and my husband was soon hooked. He had cancer, and Smokey was his constant companion for the last couple of years of his fight. The SECOND he would sit down, Smokey would be on his lap, cuddled on his chest, and fast asleep. He often said, “God really gave us a wonderful gift when He brought Smokey into our lives!” Smokey was with him almost every minute when my husband finally went into Home Hospice Care and, although I was just feet away when he died, I’m sure our precious kitty was right with him, comforting him to the moment of death. I took this photo just a couple of days before his death, at a point when he wasn’t communicating with humans anymore - but would still love and cuddle with his precious cat. More video
